“Don’t fail me now. You got this! You got this, alright?” Milford advised, as he watched, his pal Al cautiously put one foot in front of the other on the narrow log in front of him. The fourteen-foot log connected two sides of a hilly rainforest with a seemingly endless pitfall.

Al began to pant, and his legs trembled as he held both arms extended on either side for balance., “I don’t know, man.”

“Hey, hey, hey, easy! You’re going to make it through,” Milford cautioned somewhat, making gestures. “It’s just a few more steps. One step at a time. Just one step at a time. Don’t look down. You hear me? You hear me, Al? Talk to me.”

“Tears began to fall from Al’s eyes and his face began to shake violently. “Ohhhh, man!” he cried.

“Hey, listen to me,” Milford took another meticulous step trying to urgently reach his friend. He ended up startling himself as he almost lost his balance too. “We can’t go backwards. I need you to push forward. You’re halfway there, buddy! You’re halfway there.”

“I don’t think I can do this, man! I’m freaking out” Al shook vigorously and began to wobble the log, causing Milford to extend his hip upward to readjust his balance.

The heavy breathing Milford stared at his friend. Deep down inside, he knew, it was looking bad. “Listen to me bud, listen. Remember that game Tomb Raider? Remember?”

“Yeah,” Al wailed with a high pitch. He sniffed hard.

“No matter how careless we were with her, she would never fall off a log into the fire or the water. Whatever was down there, she always made it across. The game helped us not fall, remember? Imagine that! I need you to be Laura Croft for me, bud. Get on over there. Do it like Laura.”

"I always fell with Laura!" Al cried.
